Tables: Cell Widths

OBJECTIVE: Use control of the column width to make a nice-looking page for presentations.

This three-column table has a fixed width of 500 pixels. The first row is a column span of three, which makes it a nice area for a banner, other graphic, text, or a combination graphic and text.

You could always use this area to make an introduction. Sometimes it's wise to set it apart from the rest of the material on the page.

This column has 15% specified - could be used nicely for text or graphic links, or a series of graphics.

This column has 25% specified for the width. You could use it for topic headings, text, any number of ways.

This column has 60% specified. It would be the best area for paragraphs, but don't stop there. These little tips are just to whet your appetite. Be creative. See how you can use tables to control text and graphics!

I also used 15 pixels for cellpadding, because it's important to have white (negative) space between the content and the table border.

If you don't like three columns, you could combine two columns into one, using COLSPAN=2 inside the TD Tag. There are so many things you can do to present your products and your services using tables. This is just a touch of what can be accomplished!
