THE HUMAN BODY ADVENTURE  Jennifer Vilenski, a 7th Grade Life Science Teacher at Roger Ludlowe Middle School in Fairfield, CT, has a fantastic interactive site for middle school students. She teaches a class about the life processes and the diversity of life among animals, plants, bacteria, etc. Her Web site "connects the parents and students of my classes to the activities in their classrooms."

Also, sections like Life Science Safari, Human Body Adventure, The Case of the Disappearing Dinosaur and Links provide fun ways for students to explore science beyond my classroom ... students use my web site to help with their research on my Human Body System Project. My suggested links help them focus on age appropriate sites." Vilenski periodically uses the links found in her Web site to run demos, show videos and images "to make learning both interactive and fresh."

VISITING THE DOCTOR is a Web site for ESL students. If you have recently come to the United States from another country, a visit to the doctor can be a strange experience. Not only is there new language, but customs may seem be different.

With this web site you can practice the language you need for getting medical care. You can also send in your own writing on health topics and see it published here. Activities include practice dialogues, improving reading skills, vocabulary puzzles, writing poetry, and tips for ESL teachers. It also offers a partial list of clinics in the Seattle area with multi-lingual staff and interpreters.

DID YOU KNOW that you lowercase "space shuttle," but capitalize a proper name ... And that K (or k) is the abbreviation for kilobyte (1,024 bytes) Similarly, 64k means 64 times 1,024 bytes, or 65,536 bytes (not 64,000). Don't leave a space between K and the preceding number (83K or 83k). Make sure you don't use K to mean 1,000 ... The Associated Press Stylebook, 1996, ISBN 0-917360-12-5
