WINDOWS KEYSTROKES
Many people visit a site and want to stay, but they also want to click on some of the site links. Here's a fun way to open a Web page in a new window using Internet Explorer.

Hold down the Shift key in Internet Explorer when you left-click on the link. The page will open in a new window automatically. Close it when you're through, and you're still at your favorite site-of-the-moment.

NOTE FROM JUDY
I've just renovated www.webgrammar.com to make it load faster and navigate better. I hope it meets your expectations.

Need your help: for over a year I've offered a free drawing for a Webster's dictionary. I've been surprised at the small number of people willing to enter. I finally decided to run a poll on the home page to determine why so many people aren't interested. If you have a moment, would you go to http://www.webgrammar.com and answer the brief poll?

DICTIONARY OF UNITS OF MEASUREMENT written by Russ Rowlett, Director, Center for Mathematics and Science Education, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
http://www.unc.edu/~rowlett/units/index.html

PERFECTORY is an ever-evolving collection of art, literature, and music. Art galleries showcase original artwork, as well as technical art discussions and critical examinations of classical master artists. In addition, global and cultural diversity are presented through literary and music selections, which represent a wide variety of purposes and interests.

HIDDEN FOREST  Have you ever been out in the forest (bush) or maybe even in your own backyard, and come across a strange fungus, lichen or maybe a slime mould, and wondered "what's that?" Hidden Forest is an attempt to photograph and name many of these strange things. Many of the photos have been taken around the Auckland region of New Zealand.

COPYRIGHT BAY  "Copyright." It's many things....To publishers, it's a means to ensure a return on the creative dollar. To librarians, it's a guarantee to provide information that "promotes the sciences and useful arts." To educators, it's a pain in the neck.

Unfortunately, copyright is a reality that educators must face in an era when digital technology makes it easy to steal intellectual property. And if research has it right, educators in general have a lot of ground to cover to become familiar with not only what copyright law restricts, but also what it allows in terms of that fuzzy little term, "fair use."

This web page represents the authors best attempt to explore "fair use" in the not-for-profit educational setting and present it in an informative and entertaining way. It's meant to be fun.

DID YOU KNOW
SURE - SURELY
Sure is an adjective, while surely is an adverb. Sure means "positive, convinced," while surely means, "with confidence, without a doubt." You would say "I'm sure I saw that program on TV," and "He can surely count on us."

It's better to say, "I was surely (or very glad) to help," rather than "I was sure glad to help."

TACK - TACT
"Tack" is a nautical term that means to take a different direction. It could be a literal direction (north, west, left, or right), or could mean a change in attitude. You sometimes hear, "They took a different tack."

"Tact" means acting or speaking in a considerate way in order to avoid offending others.
