NOTE FROM JUDY
1. Ever wonder where I find such excellent and interesting web- sites? I belong to some discussion lists, and often, when reading them, come across sites that I think you'll like. I also subscribe to some dandy ezines. Let me recommend one of my favorites: Barbara J. Feldman's Surfing the Net with Kids. http://www.surfnetkids.com.
2. Thanks for all the interesting emails you-all have sent me this past year. I appreciate your comments, ideas, and recommended links! I wish for each of you a beautiful, healthy holiday season, and I'll be back with you in January.

DID YOU KNOW - USING GOOD AND WELL
Q. Could you please explain how to use good and well properly?
A. I'm going to call on Professor Paul Brians to help you with this. First, note that "good" is an adjective and "well" is an adverb.
Professor Brians says that you do something well, but you give someone something good. The exception he notes, is verbs of sensation in phrases such as "the pie smells good," or "I feel good."
Some people think you should never say "I feel good, but Brians says, "Despite the arguments of nigglers, this is standard usage. Saying 'the pie smells well' would imply that the pastry in question had a nose. Similarly, 'I feel well' is also acceptable, especially when discussing health; but it is not the only correct usage."

RADICALLY REDUCED RADIOLARIANS It is the year 2015, and you and your research team are experts at the esteemed Microbiology and Micropaleontology University. You're fully aware that living organisms are influenced by internal cues and by external cues, such as change in the environment. You know that each plant and animal has a different structure that serves unique functions, and there are millions of species of animals, plants, and microorganisms today and in the earth's history.
Scientists have noticed a sharp decline in the population of radiolarians, a kind of microscopic ocean organism, and are asking the U.S. Congress for funds to study this phenomenon. Your expertise is about to be called upon for a task of international importance. http://teacherweb.com/NY/ToddSchool/MrsPhethean/index.html
