NOTE FROM JUDY
I awoke from a siesta today and wondered why the room was so warm. The air conditioning hummed in the background and an overhead fan whirred away. I grabbed a glass of ice water and read for a while, but still felt a bit warm. This led me to the outdoor thermometer, which read 122.4. And by now, it was past the peak of the day. Now I understood.
A bit later, I emailed my brother, who lives nearby. Their outdoor thermometer read 123.4 at the highest. Usually, once July appears, the Sonoran Desert has a period of time when the "monsoons" occur. Cloudy. Rainy. Dusty. Humid. So far, the monsoons haven't shown up.
Enjoy July, wherever you are.

WINDOWS KEYSTROKES & TIPS - PRINT SCREEN Let's say you're visiting a website and you want to capture the screen content so you can study it, or send it via email to someone else (perhaps someone who doesn't have access to the Web, but who can accept graphics).
Press the Print Screen Button once. This puts whatever you see on your screen on the Windows Clipboard. You can then paste it (Ctrl+V) to a graphics program or even Microsoft Word. Save it, and your're free to print it, save it, or send it to someone else as either a Word document or a jpg file. DEFINITIONS OF EDITORIAL SERVICES Publishing embraces a variety of ever-changing processes, companies, and products. What medium editing means to a university press might be what a publisher of home repair books calls editorial proofreading. Similarly, the functions carried out by the managing editor at a magazine or Web site would be the responsibility of the project editor at a book publisher. http://www.editorsforum.org/what_do_sub_pages/definitions.html
PROFESSIONAL EDITORIAL STANDARDS Editing is both an art and a craft. Serving the requirements of the publisher, the writer, and the reader demands self-confidence and tact -- and humility. It also requires a variety of skills. Given this variety, no one can specify what makes a great performance in every activity that is called editing. One can, however, specify the skills generally accepted as needed by editors working in particular media. The skills listed in this publication are those most commonly required for editing English-language text, whether on paper or on screen. http://www.editors.ca/pubs/pes.htm#structural
