DID YOU KNOW - Behalf

Is it "in behalf of" or "on behalf of"? There is a distinction, says Chicago Manual of Style 15.

In behalf of means in the interest or for the benefit of.
On behalf of means acting as agent or representative.

While it appears to be a small distinction, it may be important in certain types of writing or when speaking or corresponding.
