NOTE FROM JUDY * I want to thank those of you who change or delete your email addresses in one of the subscription boxes on my website. This saves me from having to delete them manually. How does this happen? Each month I have a large number of newsletters that bounce. It could be that the subscriber's mailbox is full, that the address no longer exists, or that I don't have permission to send to this address. Which I do, since all subscriptions have an opt-in feature.
* Recently I've been receiving many messages from Vietnam asking me to send lessons. These people, along with many others, want to speak better everyday English. I've sent links to some good sites, including www.dailygrammar.com, but wondered what you would recommend for any people (including Americans) who want to take lessons to improve their English.
Send ideas to me at mailto:judyvorfeld@webgrammar.com

WINDOWS KEYSTROKES & TIPS - Copy and Paste
This is an all-time favorite that works in any Windows program. First, select the text you want to copy, then use the keystroke Ctrl+C. Then, go to the destination, click the cursor once to get the area ready, and use the keystroke Ctrl+V. It's asy to do the keystrokes with your left hand while your right hand stays on the mouse.

DID YOU KNOW - Punctuation for closely linked nouns
How do you punctuate closely linked nouns?
Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition, University of Chicago Press, says (7.24) that closely linked nouns are considered a single unit in forming the possessive when the entity "possessed" is the same for both. In such cases, only the second element takes the possessive form.
When the entities are different, both nouns take the possessive form.
Examples given:
My aunt and uncle's house (house/entity is the same, thus is a single unit) My aunt's and uncle's specific talents (talents are different, so each has its own punctuation)
