NOTE FROM JUDY
Leap Years are special at the Vorfeld household. My husband was born on February 29. This weekend we will welcome family from several states. They've planned a special party nearby. We expect plenty of laughter and giggles as four generations get together and enjoy each other's company at the party and at our home. We are blessed.

DID YOU KNOW - Punctuation: exclamation point
Q. I'm not sure where to place the quotation marks because there is an exclamation point in the quotation instead of a period. Is this correct?
--> The race starts when someone yells, "Go!".
A. Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition, University of Chicago Press 6.9), says that colons, semicolons, question marks and exclamation points all follow closing quotation marks UNLESS a question mark or exclamation point belongs within the quoted matter. CMS gives this example:
--> "Where are you from?"
In your case, you'd write:
--> The race starts when someone yells, "Go!"
